Walk/Run of Taylor County June 6th, 2008

The American Cancer Society and K99 thank you for your interest in the Walk/Run of Taylor County. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Refreshments will be available after the event in the shelter nearest Jaycee field in the Medford City Park.

LIGHT A LUMINARIA FOR A LOVED ONE

What is the Luminaria Lighting Ceremony?
A Luminaria is a candle set into a special white paper bag filled with sand. When the candle is lit, it illuminates the area around it radiating a soft body of light. Luminarias are purchased in memory of a loved one, a friend, or someone you know who has passed away from cancer. They are also purchased as a symbol of life for someone you know who is a cancer survivor. The name of the person you are honoring is printed on the bag with any inscription you wish to write. When the Luminaria is lit, your words of loving and caring hide the light making your words the words of support and comfort to everyone who sees it. These Luminarias will light the River Walk track for the participants on June 6, 2008.
