Russ Gowey Bio
HI!!
I guess I was called Gabby Gowey before I even knew how to talk.
My wife, Judy, and I were both born and raised working hard on our parents dairy farms in Taylor county. We were high school sweethearts and married three years after graduating from Medford High School. Judy is my true soulmate and the love of my life. We are the proud parents of two children, Brandi and Shain and our six grandchildren. I started playing (not working) at WIGM radio in 1968 part time and full time in 1971. After 40 years on the air, I still feel like it's play rather than work.
Judy and I have had many experiences over the years travelling either by car, motorcycle or in our plane, but we feel "there is no place like home". I have had chances to work elsewhere, but to live and raise our family in this area was our top priority. Looking at our family now, it was the right decision. In retrospect, it was also the right decision to remain at WIGM/WKEB. This is my second home and the people here are my second family.
As the voice in the morning on WKEB for so many years, ( I believe I have more "on air" hours than any announcer in the midwest,) it has always been my pleasure to inform and entertain the fine people who tune in to be part of our listening family. I would hope I have been a part of your family these many years as well.
