Margaret Pfeffer


 

 

Margaret A. Pfeffer, 99, of Unity, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 11: 00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby with Father Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Wednesday.

 

Margaret Graebel was born October 24, 1913 in Sanborn, Wisconsin to Herman and Emma (Janke) Graebel. She attended Sanborn School, graduating from the eighth grade, and then worked for the Pfeffer family as housekeeper/caregiver. Margaret married Frank Pfeffer on March 25, 1940 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Sanborn, WI. After their marriage they moved to Spencer for a short time and then moved to the Village of Unity in 1946, where she worked for the Saint Croix Fishing Pole Company in Unity and then retiring from the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield at the age of 63. Margaret lived in Unity until 2009. She then lived with her son-in-law, Glenn, for a few years.  

 

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling with her husband, gardening, cooking holiday and Sunday meals, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Margaret was very proud of her 3 great-grandsons.  

 

Margaret was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby and its PCCW.

 

Margaret is survived by her son-in-law: Glenn Herrmann of Colby, grand-daughter; Peggy (Rev. Daniel) Zimmerman of Loyal, 3 great-grandsons; Luke, Ben and Zach Zimmerman and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

 She  is preceded in death by her parents; Herman and Emma Graebel , her husband; Frank in 1993,  her daughter; Darlene Herrmann in 2005, sisters; Doris Grage, Gladys Thompson, Beatrice Hanson, Erna McClellan, Hilda Lipke, Leona Bonin, and a  brother; Erwin Graebel.

 

Memorial contributions in Margarets name can be made to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.

Joseph Courchaine


Joseph John Courchaine, 78, of Abbotsford, came to his eternal rest on Thursday, December 6, 2012 after a four year battle with myelofibrosis, bone marrow disease.

 

Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford on Monday, December 10, 2012. Reverend Dr. Gary Paul will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 9:00 am until the time of the 11:00 am service. Burial will follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. A luncheon to be served at the church following burial. Pallbearers will be; Paul Rachu, Bryon Rachu, Scott Rachu, Daniel Courchaine, Evan Schindler, Louis Schaller, Nicholas Tucholka and Honorary Pallbearer; Patrick Schaller.

 

Joseph “Joe” was born June 1, 1934 to Peter and Veronica (Landmesser) Courchaine in Rib Lake, WI.  On January 23, 1958 Joe married Evelyn Knoll at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, WI. Joe served in the Armed Services as a Military Police officer. He ranched in South Dakota before he and his wife returned to Wisconsin.

 

Joe was a member of Christ Lutheran Church serving on the Board of Finance and Maintenance and a Board member of Colby Credit Union. Joe worked for 33 years at Packaging Corporation of America in Colby.

After retirement he enjoyed working at Schindler Auctions, traveling to the Western States to visit relatives, wood crafting and restoring antiques.

 

He is survived by his wife; Evelyn and six children; Clayton (Lynda) Courchaine  of  Oxford, WI, Dolph (Brook) Courchaine of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, Anita (Gary) Rachu of Middleton, WI, Janice (Scott) Tucholka of Cedarburg, WI, Lisa (Tim) Schindler of Curtiss, WI, Rhonda (Kurt) Schaller of Northbrook, IL, one sister; Betty Courchaine of Wausau, WI, 16 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Peter and Veronica Courchaine, brothers; Richard and Alan Courchaine and sister; Phyllis Courchaine.

Marian Nelson


 

Marian D. Nelson, age 95, of Owen, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

Marian was born March 27, 1917 to Andrew and Hilda (Lindblum) Asp in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She attended Marshfield Schools and worked a short time as a waitress, before her marriage to Reynold Nelson on May 30, 1946. Marian was a housewife most of her life.  

 

She enjoyed crocheting in her younger years, cooking, baking, canning, camping and feeding everybody. Marian looked forward to going up to the deer camp for Thanksgiving every year.  

Marian is survived by her children; Tom (Geri Moore) Nelson of Owen, Betty (Jerry) Prepeluh of Owen and Charles (Rita Koplitz) Nelson of Withee. 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren and 5 step great-great grandchildren.

 

Marian is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, twin sister; Margaret Asp, brothers and sisters; Art Asp, Bob Asp, Helen Allen, Arvilla De Jarlais, Esther Rhodes and Emma Weber.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Reverend Mark Schwinn will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers will be Rob Nelson, Rick Nelson, Bill Nelson, Mike Prepeluh, Dan Prepeluh and Jeff Rasmussen.
